What if your smartwatch could read your emotions?

Code name: Dylan. Job: smartwatch. Distinguishing marks: ability to read our feelings, whilst comfortably resting on our wrist. As revealed by Bloomberg, Amazon is developing a smart device that can read human emotions.
How will it work? As reported by Bloomberg, the device - described as a health and wellness product - will be activated by the sound of its wearer’s voice, using a smartphone app, and will discern the wearer’s emotional state from the tone of his or her voice.
Two Amazon divisions are apparently working on the device: the team that develops the Alexa virtual assistant, and the famous Lab126, the hardware development group behind Amazon’s Kindle tablet/e-reader and Echo speakers. It’s unclear how far along the project is, but a beta program is apparently underway.
Other companies, including IBM, Microsoft and Google, are developing technologies designed to derive emotional states from images, audio files and other data. Also at 255hec we are working on a voice smarwatch that might be able to change some interesting operations in logistics. Great things lie ahead!
